Watching the skies…

January 6, 2022January 6, 2022 / jillenenarraway / Leave a comment

I am a self-proclaimed Weather Nerd... it may be sad, but it is true. Living for most of my life in the snow belt of Western New York for most of my life where expecting regular snow events measured in feet might have fed this hobby of mine. Combine that with working in camping ministry … Continue reading Watching the skies…

In Awe and Wonder: treasure

December 24, 2021 / jillenenarraway / 1 Comment

There are some recreations that will never compare to the real thing. Without a doubt in my mind, no matter how we attempt to portray the glory of these moments, we cannot capture the full awe and wonder of the events from the first Christmas story! But this year I’m thankful for the way God … Continue reading In Awe and Wonder: treasure

In Awe and Wonder: sign

December 23, 2021December 23, 2021 / jillenenarraway / Leave a comment

Sitting around the Christmas tree with children in pjs and hair still quite a mess, little ones eager to open presents, someone is still super sleepy, someone is probably a little cranky…. and in them moments before opening gifts we read the Christmas story… “Let’s read the Christmas story. Someone open your Bible to Luke … Continue reading In Awe and Wonder: sign

In Awe and Wonder: prepare

How many Christmas Eve’s have I sat with wrapping paper, tape, scissors, ribbons, gifts only to have to find my list… in an almost panic, fearing (or finding) that something is missing… a present lost or a detail dropped. Leading to that first Christmas I’m not sure how Mary and Joseph felt, Elizabeth and Zechariah, … Continue reading In Awe and Wonder: prepare

In Awe and Wonder: kingdom

26 In the sixth month the angel Gabriel was sent from God to a city of Galilee named Nazareth, 27 to a virgin betrothed to a man whose name was Joseph, of the house of David. And the virgin's name was Mary. 28 And he came to her and said, “Greetings, O favored one, the … Continue reading In Awe and Wonder: kingdom

In Awe and Wonder: expect

The very last words of the last book of the Old Testament read:“Behold, I am going to send you Elijah the prophet before the coming of the great and terrible day of the LORD. And he will restore the hearts of the fathers to their children, and the hearts of the children to their fathers, … Continue reading In Awe and Wonder: expect

In Awe and Wonder: time

December 19, 2021December 19, 2021 / jillenenarraway / Leave a comment

As we’ve been reading scripture through this advent season, the Bible is telling one story leading to the coming of the Messiah, the birth of Jesus. The stage has been set, in fact the plot put in motion since creation and the fall. Sin brought brokenness to the world, separation between God and humanity, constant … Continue reading In Awe and Wonder: time

In Awe and Wonder: rescue

December 18, 2021December 18, 2021 / jillenenarraway / 1 Comment

During very difficult situations it can appear there is no possible way that light will come in the darkness. And Israel faced many years of darkness when they were held captive in exile. The promises of God to Abraham, Isaac and Jacob seemed so long ago… the reign of the kings over… the nation shattered…. … Continue reading In Awe and Wonder: rescue

In Awe and Wonder: rise

On the windowsill by my kitchen sink sits this tiny orchid. For months it sits with beautiful blooms, which require minimal care to maintain its gorgeous color. And then one day it happened. A shriveled flower made an unexpected appearance. The normally in perfect bloom plant was experiencing the unavoidable life cycle. Each day brought … Continue reading In Awe and Wonder: rise

Our Calah Rose had a 9th birthday perfectly suited to her! She had a friend party yesterday, watched a parade today, enjoyed water games and pool time, ate Chinese food and apple pie with ice cream (her birthday request), video calls with family, opened presents, and fireworks to end the night. Calah Rose, we love you so much!
Life is too busy sometimes. Seems like I’ve been caught in one of those “busy seasons.” One of my favorite places to sit, breathe, relax, recharge, and pray is by the river. Today was busy but we found the moments to squeeze in time at the river. After a while I had to coax my girls into leaving… probably about 15 times of saying, “Okay, we need to pack up and leave soon.” Guess they needed to spend time at the river too.
As parents we have an enormous privilege and responsibility to raise our children! Some days parents feel like they’ve got this! Other days? Well… not so much. On those days little video clips like this show me a bird’s eye view… and it is beautiful! Mommas who may be feeling a little worn thin, less than equipped, and in general like they don’t measure up… you’ve got this! God’s grace and mercy show up for up for you minute by minute! And when all else fails: go play outside. God’s creation is beautiful both you and your children will benefit from playing in today!
Part 2 of wedding pictures: Marriage is a beautiful gift. God made humans to be loved and to love. He gave the ultimate gift of love in Christ’s sacrifice so we could know and experience His love and love in return. God made us to be people in relationship: with other people and His church, in friendships, and in families. And in that way God also gave us marriage… within marriage we see, as husbands and wives, a glimpse even deeper into God’s love for us. In marriage we find unity, sacrifice, joy, heartache, beauty, and hardship that show us the true depths of love. Marriage is special. Today my oldest married his bride. Micah and Ellie, Joshua and I are thankful to be your parents, whole-heartedly cover you in prayer, and celebrate the start of your new family. We love you!

Do you know what today is? Yes, Yes… it is May the 4th be with you day. Sure, sure… it is a work day. But today is no ordinary Thursday. Today is cheesecake day! @mikachu_113 and @elliecaiiit ’s wedding is in two days!! And I have cheesecakes to make for tomorrow’s rehearsal dinner! We’re so excited to celebrate their marriage! The cheesecakes are just added fun.
