You’ve very likely read me talking about these verses before, but that is because they continue to speak to me and challenge me to grow in my walk with God.
1 Thessalonians 5:16-18
16 Be joyful always; 17 pray continually; 18 give thanks in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.
I have spent some time thinking about “pray continually” or said in another version “constantly”. I admit, for me, the idea of praying constantly seems a daunting task. For others, praying regularly throughout the day is “no biggie”. But I know that, despite my good intentions, I often fail at remembering to pray.
A few things that have helped me to remember to pray.
1- I always seem to have a conversation going in my head. When I realized I can stop just talking to myself and instead have that conversation with God… well that was a turning point in making prayer “easier” for me.
2- Sometimes I wear a special bracelet and whenever I see that bracelet or feel it, it reminds me to pray.
3- Something as simple as setting an alarm on my phone can help me to remember to pray.
Take some time to think about and put into practice techniques that will help you pray more. It is a privilege we have to be able to talk to God! We should do it more!
How about for you: does prayer come easily? What helps you pray?
