Wednesdays with Jillene: What’s your ministry?

So if God “can use even me” (see last week’s Wednesdays with Jillene)… what is God calling you to do? What is your ministry?

Wait a minute… I HAVE A MINISTRY?

Yup.

You mean, like I AM A PASTOR?!!

Well… maybe, but that’s not really what I meant.

God has a special role for you, a ministry intended for you. Not everyone will be a pastor, but everyone has a part in the ministry.

In The Message it explains it this way from 1 Corinthians 12:

25-26 The way God designed our bodies is a model for understanding our lives together as a church: every part dependent on every other part, the parts we mention and the parts we don’t, the parts we see and the parts we don’t. If one part hurts, every other part is involved in the hurt, and in the healing. If one part flourishes, every other part enters into the exuberance.

27-31 You are Christ’s body—that’s who you are! You must never forget this. Only as you accept your part of that body does your “part” mean anything. You’re familiar with some of the parts that God has formed in his church, which is his “body”:

apostles
prophets
teachers
miracle workers
healers
helpers
organizers
those who pray in tongues.

See, God designed us to work together with others as a part of “his body”. You BELONG. You are a PART. You have a PURPOSE.

What is yours? How has God gifted you as a person. What are your talents? Do opportunities regularly come your way like helping out, caring for those who are hurting, teaching people, praying for people, reaching out to those who are lost…

Read more about Spiritual Gifts (God’s special ministry for you) In 1 Corinthians 12, Romans 12, and Ephesians 4. Talk with your family and pastors/teachers to learn more about this and discover the ministry God has for you.

You don’t have to wait until you “grow up” and get a real job to be used by God. God has a purpose, a part of his ministry FOR YOU to live out RIGHT NOW.
