Today I want to share one verse with you… one verse that I had read MANY times before… one verse that I thought I understood… one verse that gave me a BOOM moment…
Ephesians 2:10
I had read this verse in my NIV Bible for years:
10 For we are God’s workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.
The whole chapter of Ephesians 2, has been for me, a beautiful description of God’s great love for me. Not a love that over looks faults, but a love that loved me in spite of my faults, a love that was given to transform my faults, a love that creates me anew.
In times when I need to speak truth to myself on who I am in Christ, I turn to Ephesians 2. Its funny how, at the same time, scripture that we are familiar with can be both comforting and also so familiar that we stop noticing the power of the words.
That is what Ephesians 2:10 was for me until I read it in a different translation:
Ephesians 2:10
New Living Translation (NLT)
10 For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago.
And, for me, to be called God’s masterpiece was a BOOM moment. A moment that I felt the power of the truth of this scripture. I, who Ephesians 2 tells me was dead in my sins, am loved by God so much that he made me alive in Christ and what is more, God has made me NEW in Christ and I am his MASTERPIECE!
How that changes things for me to think I am a MASTERPIECE.
How about for you? What does it mean to you that you are God’s masterpiece, created anew in Christ so you can do the good things he planned long ago for you to do?
Spend some time reading Ephesians 2: 1-10 and allow the truth of God’s love for you to move through your life!
